Booking Terms and Conditions
![]()
Your contract is with Faro Sailing School, hereinafter referred to as FSS. The submission of a completed booking form and deposit or full payment signifies your understanding and acceptance of the following terms and conditions:Bookings
Telephone or email reservations will be held for 3 days unless otherwise stated. The booking will be confirmed on receipt of a fully completed booking form and a deposit equal to 25% of the total cost. The deposit is non-refundable once the booking is accepted. All bookings will be confirmed in writing by the issue of your booking confirmation and joining instructions. The balance of fees must be paid 6 weeks prior to the course commencement date. If the balance of fees is not received 6 weeks before the course commencement date, FSS reserves the right to cancel the booking and offer it for resale - final reminders will not be sent and the client remains liable for the balance of fees. Bookings made less than 6 weeks before the course commencement date must be accompanied by full payment. Receipts will not be issued unless requested.Credit Card Bookings
Credit card payments are processed in euros and are subject to a 3% surcharge. The exchange rate may fluctuate between the transaction date and the date the transaction is processed by your credit card company - this fluctuation may be in your favour or against it. FSS does not assume any liability for any fluctuation against your favour.Cancellation by the Client
A cancellation must be made in writing (fax transmission or email is acceptable) to the UK office and is deemed to take effect on receipt. Cancellation less than 6 weeks prior to the course commencement date will result in forfeiture of all fees paid. It is therefore strongly recommended that you take out travel insurance which will cover you should you need to cancel your booking. If a client leaves a yacht and/or abandons a course before the scheduled termination date and time for whatever reason, no refunds will be given and additional travel costs or other expenses incurred will not be reimbursed.Cancellation by FSS
If FSS has to cancel because of circumstances beyond its control including sickness, accidents, travel delays, weather, strikes, war or civil disturbance, then alternative dates will be offered or a full refund of course fees already paid will be made. No liability will be accpeted by FSS for flight tickets already purchased or other incidental expenses incurred - we recommend that your travel insurance covers holiday cancellation. No liability will be accepted by FSS if bad weather prevents the start of or curtails a course. In the event of the yacht being unable to return to port, or any other agreed final destination, on time, due to weather, engine breakdown or any other circumstances, clients may elect to stay with the yacht at no extra charge, or make their own arrangements to return at their own expense. No refunds will be given for unused flight tickets. If this is not covered by your travel insurance, we strongly recommend you purchase scheduled flight tickets.Damage or Loss
The cost of making good any damage or loss of equipment resulting from the carelessness of the client or members of his party will be to the account of the client.Skipper/Instructor Authority
Decisions made by the skipper/instructor are final in respect of the safety of the yacht and the well-being of the crew even to the extent of requiring, in exceptional circumstances, a client or a member of the group to leave the yacht.Insurance
The yacht provided by FSS is fully insured against accident, third party liability and personal injury due to negligence by FSS. However, no liability is accepted by FSS for personal accident or loss or damage to the property of the client. The client must therefore arrange his own personal insurance and details of this must be shown on the booking form.Sea-sickness
All yachts carry Biodramina. Please check that it is safe for all members of the group to take Biodramina should it be advised; if a client is in any doubt, his GP should be consulted.Medical
The client agrees to notify FSS of any medical conditions or illness suffered by himself or any member of his group by signing the Health Declaration on the booking form. This need not necessarily prevent the student from taking a full part in the course. If a client is in any doubt about his fitness to take part in a practical course, his GP should be consulted. Clients are strongly advised to obtain form E111 from the Post Office which will provide cover for medical treatment in all EEC countries.Smoking
In the interests of comfort and safety, smoking is not permitted below deck - clients are welcome to smoke in the cockpit provided they are mindful of where their smoke and ash are going and do not cause discomfort to other crew members. Cigarette butts must not be thrown into the sea.Drugs
No illegal drugs, substances, objects or contraband may be brought onboard the yacht. Any person found in possession of any of the aforementioned items will be put ashore immediately regardless of location and FSS will not reimburse, or in any way be held responsible for any costs incurred for travel or any other expenses. In addition, the person shall indemnify FSS and the Skipper against all legal action, impoundment and loss incurred as a result.Course suitability
The client must satisfy himself that adequate guidance has been given as to the suitability of the course chosen for himself or any member of his group at the time of booking.Top | Home | Sailing Area | Courses | Long Distance Trips | Yacht | How to get to us | FAQs | Customer Comments | Photo Gallery | Special Offers | Bookshop | Booking Form | Charter | Contact Us | Links | Boats for Sale
